Circus Animals

Monkey Business

From the kit: pink paper with circle patterns, 1 paper plate, 3 black dot stickers

You need: glue, scissors, crayons

1. Cut out the circle patterns, cutting one in half, following the dotted lines. The whole circle will be used for the monkey's mouth and nose area, and the half circles are for his ears.

2. Provide glue for the children to adhere the circles to plate. The whole circle should be placed at the bottom half of the plate. The half circles go to each side.

3. Place the black circles for the eyes and nose. Use crayons to draw a mouth and any other features wish your monkey to have.

Circus Stripes

From the kit: 1/2 tan paper, 2 black pipe cleaners, 2 wiggle eyes, 1/2 black & Orange festoon, 1 craft stick

Your materials: Scissors, crayons, glue, tape, hot glue (optional)

1. Cut out a circle or oval for a tiger's head. Draw a shape for those who need a visual line to follow while cutting.

2. Offer the pipe cleaners & wiggle eyes, crayons ad glue. Explain that the pipe cleaners are tiger whiskers. Encourage the children to cut the pipe cleaners into smaller pieces and adhere them, along with wiggle eyes, to their tiger. They can use crayons to add further detail they want to (mouth and nose).

3. Glue or tape your craft stick to the back of the tiger face. Then turn it back over and glue or tape your festoon around the edge of your tiger face.

Blow up a Balloon

The kids loved this one in class!

From the kit: One balloon

You will need: Baking soda, Vinegar, 16 oz. Water bottle (20 oz. soda bottle or something similar with a small enough opening to place the opening of the balloon over the opening of the bottle)

Place about 2 Tbs. of baking soda inside the balloon. Add about one inch of vinegar to the bottom of the plastic bottle. Slip the balloon over the opening of the bottle. Hold it in place as you tip the baking soda into the bottle.

What Happens? The balloon will quickly expand as a result of the gas caused by the vinegar and baking soda reacting with each other.
